orecchiette with broccoli, pecorino, and italian sausage

It's been a while.

so delicious

ugh bb

ooh gurl

When I first learned "orecchiette" meant "ear" in Italian because this pasta looks ear-shaped, I expected myself to find this pasta harder to enjoy, but no, this shit was fucking delicious so I think that means I came across a good recipe. I found it on the back of the pasta box lolol, but it's Italian imported!!!

Basically:

  1. Cut up your broccoli and Italian sausage. I imagine using hot dog sausages will not taste that great, considering how much more delicious Italian sausages are. Mince some garlic and red pepper, too.
  2. Boil your orrecchiette until al dente I think idk I refuse to boil my pasta beyond al dente so idk how this would taste beyond al dente.
  3. While your pasta is boiling, fry the garlic, red pepper, broccoli, and sausage together in olive oil over medium/medium high heat. I think you're supposed to fry the garlic first but whenever I do that my garlic overfries so.
  4. When that pasta is done boiling, drain and toss it into your broccoli mess. I'd turn the heat off now and just mix/let it sit for another couple minutes or so.
  5. Grate/sprinkle that pecorino all over with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Eat and die.

fuck french fine dining

Dolphin Daddy, pet pig, and I went to a recently remodeled French restaurant, thinking it was an Italian restaurant. Turns out the original Italian restaurant was remodeled into a French restaurant (we thought the place was being prettified). The food was good but the culture of fine dining was just ugh hated it. The first thing we had was an appetizer of snails cooked with tomatoes which would've been enjoyable if THE DISH WASN'T SMALLER THAN THE SIZE OF MY FIST.

We also had an appetizer of oysters cooked with some sort of cheese and lemons idk it was delicious but I felt really judged whenever the waiter with an accent would interact with us. idk why businesses think all customers want to be interacted with IT JUST MAKES ME FEEL AWKWARD I JUST WANT TO EAT IN PEACE I WALK INTO A RESTAURANT TO EAT GOOD FOOD NOT MAKE FRIENDS WITH THE EMPLOYEES I DON'T THINK OF THE RESTAURANT AS ANY FRIENDLIER JUST ANNOYING AF BC THEY'RE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OUR "FRIENDSHIP" TO IMPROVE THEIR RESTAURANT IMAGE AND WELCOME BACK CUSTOMERS NO PISS OFF LET THE FOOD/PRICING SPEAK FOR ITSELF.

We had main dishes of pasta with assorted meats which were okay. They were good but weren't worth like $20 a plate jesus. If I knew this was a fine dining restaurant, I would never have set foot and I still wouldn't set foot in any fine dining restaurant. I dress nicely, I speak politely, but I still feel incredibly judged which just makes it insanely hard to enjoy the food.

mango and raspberry desserts of some sort

Pet pig ate the raspberry and I had the mango. The top was fruity gelatin and the bottom was silky pudding.

Not the finest desserts but they were really good for a local, independent bakery. I thought they were really cute -w-

soba and soft serve

The best bowl of soba I've ever had. I forgot the name of the shack we were at, but it was a small secluded store like fresh out of a Ghibli film. Their soba noodles are handmade and unffffff I've never had handmade soba, so my mind was blown when I saw how translucent these noodles were AND THEIR TEXTURE UNFFFFF. The noodles were so good we ordered 2 boxes of dry noodles, so we could make our own the next day at home -w-

Forgetting the noodles, I was also amazed by how good soba tastes good with natto and kimchi. I now refuse to eat soba unless I have kimchi or natto in it. I'm pretty sure the soba place was incredibly popular on Yelp.

Dolphin Daddy and I had Foster's Freeze for the first time. IT WASN'T THAT GREAT IT ALMOST TASTED WATERY????? idk Wienerschnitzel's soft serve triumphs all.
